YouTube and Twilight

Next week I am working with a teacher to introduce Romeo and Juliet to her class. I found this video on YouTube comparing Romeo and Juliet to Twilight. The YouTube video uses the DiCaprio version of Romeo and Juliet vs scenes from the trailer of Twilight (all that was available at the time). I can't wait to see if this captures the 8th graders interest.

November Already

This has been a very interesting year so far. I'm covered up with paperwork at school. And my daughter's senior year is flying by. I have dove into reading Middle School fiction and am enjoying it. One thing I missed at the high school level was enticing students to read. That is easier to do with 6th through 8th graders. Have any of you read the Maximum Ride books? They are fantasy adventure books with a girl named Max as the leader of a flock of part human, part bird people. Really good. And I finally started Twilight this weekend. Much more engrossing than I thought.

Too Much To Do

Band competitions, family reunion, now Furman Homecoming! I talked to my best friend from college this morning. She and her husband are coming to Homecoming again this year-once every 5 years. It's exciting just to hear her voice but so much cleaning to do. Oh well, she won't die from a dirty house and old carpets. And we will be here for only short periods of time. Thirty years. People say that you turn around and time has flown. 'Tis true.
